Ukraine Update — Despair to Hope

Dear Friend,
On behalf of the traumatized people of Ukraine, thank you for your ongoing prayers and support that are helping Mission Eurasia bring relief and hope to a nation in despair.
These include people like Lidia, who is 88 years old, nearly blind, and all alone. Her family fled Ukraine and the social service workers who had helped her in the past haven’t been to see her for two weeks. The endless sirens and sounds of war have been terrifying, but her greatest fear was running out of food. We thank God that a friend reached out to Mission Eurasia’s School Without Walls (SWW) leaders who bravely delivered an “I Care” food box filled with food. She was very emotional and deeply grateful for friends like you who truly care.
There are many people like Lidia across Ukraine who are trapped without food. This is why your support of our Ukraine Emergency Relief Fund is so important. Our SWW teams and partners risk all to go into communities and homes to deliver lifesaving food and other critical resources personally. Along with food, our SWW teams also care for people’s spiritual needs, encouraging them and praying for them.
Every $50 you give now provides one food pack—enough to help feed a family for a week, and a copy of Scripture. I pray you will give generously to reach trapped people like Lidia and also those hundreds of families and individuals who are pouring into our refugee assistance centers in Poland and Moldova each day.
Pray with me for Ukrainians who are trapped. Ask God to shower His blessings on the city of Mariupol, which remains surrounded by Russian forces that will not let the people escape. Just days ago, they bombed a school and a theater where women, children, and elderly were taking shelter. Pray for those trapped under the rubble and for those trying to reach them.
Pray with me for Ukrainians arriving at our refugee assistance centers. Lena and her family abandoned their home when shelling began to rock their 16-story building. They survived the tough journey to our Moldova refugee center and found a warm welcome. “We feel so amazingly taken care of at this center,” Lena says. “When we were on our way here, we cried all the time because we didn’t know where we were going, where we’d be staying, who’d be receiving us, and we were worried about our children. Late at night, when we were met at the border and brought here, we couldn’t believe the way we were received, and we were filled with peace. Thank you so much for taking care of us, for all the help, for receiving us so warmly, for accommodating us and giving us food.”
In addition to food and safe shelter, Lena and other refugees gratefully receive prayer and encouragement that we pray will comfort them in the long, uncertain days ahead. Thank you for standing with Mission Eurasia in prayer and in action during these difficult days!
