Mission Eurasia’s Next-Gen leaders needed for front-line ministry
Today, we are seeing the gospel flourish as our School Without Walls (SWW) leaders take the baton of ministry. Following a year of wars in this region, social, economic and political turmoil, and a global pandemic, Mission Eurasia has adapted and found new approaches to reach the unreached and bring hope to the hopeless.
This week a total of 746 of our 1,585 Next Generation leaders, trained through SWW, graduated following two years of training, equipping, and mentoring from our leadership development program…a ministry that spans across Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Russia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Israel, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Tajikistan, and Armenia.
“The former Soviet Union needs Next Generation Christian leaders more than ever before,” says Mission Eurasia President Sergey Rakhuba. “For decades, communist regimes tried to stifle the church’s influence by keeping Christianity out of the public spotlight and inside the church walls. But after the fall of communism in the early 90s, we realized change will only come when young believers are trained, empowered, and mobilized to boldly take the Good News of the gospel into their neighborhoods and throughout Eurasia.”
This year’s online ceremony—following our 17th season of classes—was unique as 150 alumni, donors, and ministry partners from 10 different time zones gathered on a Zoom call that was broadcast live on YouTube.
And many of Mission Eurasia’s young leaders will be going straight from the classroom to the frontlines of ministry as we launch more than 600 summer Bible camp programs across Eurasia. This summer, leaders expect to draw more than 18,000 children and teens to what has proven to be Mission Eurasia’s most effective ministry.
“It’s exciting to hear of bright young leaders like Daniel from Tajikistan, where Islam is a prominent religion,” said Rakhuba, noting Daniel will be working with fellow SWW graduates as he ministers to children through our summer Bible camps.
Daniel said, “I am grateful to God for a ministry program where I learned how to lead and become equipped as a minister of the gospel. My goal is to share the gospel with people in my country more and more. ”
