Pray Without Ceasing—Ukraine Update

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.  — Romans 2:12, ESV

Dear praying friends and partners,

We were greatly relieved to learn from our friends and partners on the ground near Kyiv and Chernihiv that Russian forces were departing northern Ukraine. But in their wake, they have left mass graves and burned bodies—more evidence of their brutal, shameful war crimes against innocent civilians.

Sadly, the northeastern city of Kharkiv remains under attack, and authorities expect Russian forces to launch a full-blown assault soon to try to take the city.

It is believed the departing Russian forces will regroup in Russia or Belarus in order to mount a new offensive with the purpose of taking eastern Ukraine in the days ahead.

Please join me in fervent prayer—

  • That God will use this time to turn the tide and change the hearts of Russian soldiers and their leaders. Pray that they will see and hear the wrath of the world for their terrorist activities and lay down their arms against their peaceful neighbors.
  • Pray, too, for eastern Ukraine, which has endured violence at the hands of Russia since 2014. Residents are being urged to evacuate now, before fighting intensifies. Just today, at least 50 people were killed and another 98 people were injured by a Russian missile strike as they gathered at a train station to evacuate Kramatorsk in eastern Ukraine. Southern Ukraine is also said to be a target of the invaders in the coming weeks, and we pray for their safety and fortitude.
  • Pray that God will continue to protect Mission Eurasia staff and volunteers as they bravely deliver  “I Care” food packages to freed cities in the Kyiv region, including Irpin, Bucha, Vorzel, Borodyanka, and nearby villages. These people have lived through unspeakable horrors during the Russian occupation and are in urgent need of food and God’s Word.
  • Pray for those who have safely evacuated and now face hunger and uncertainty in Moldova. Our teams are en route to deliver “I Care” food packages and Scripture, along with prayer and words of encouragement for these shattered people.
