A Muslim Family Transformed by the Gospel: Lika’s Story

Lika, School Without Walls leader in Georgia

“I was born into a Muslim family and like a good Muslim, I followed all of the rituals,” shares Lika, one of our School Without Walls (SWW) students from Georgia. But God got a hold of her heart—and the hearts of her entire family—in a powerful way when she was invited to one of Mission Eurasia’s summer Bible camps . . . “A few years ago when my family moved to the town of Gory, one of my cousins told my parents about a Mission Eurasia summer Bible camp and asked their permission to invite me to attend,” shared Lika. “I attended the camp and was amazed at the kindness of the SWW students I met there—and I started attending a local church soon afterwards. I was so excited about this new church that I shared about it with my whole family, and soon my sister started attending with me….

Serving the Lost Sheep of Israel

Boris, School Without Walls leader in Israel

Boris is one of our current School Without Walls (SWW) students in Israel. He found Christ through a Christian rehabilitation center run by Living Israel, a messianic Christian ministry in Israel that partners closely with Mission Eurasia to conduct holistic ministry in the Holy Land. Boris’ faith journey is one of dramatic transformation only made possible by God’s grace: Before dedicating his life to Christ, Boris spent 17 years addicted to drugs. He had heard the gospel and even said he was a Christian, but he had not fully given his life over to Christ. Eventually he got to the point where he felt like he was dying, and then he remembered hearing about Christian rehabilitation centers. He found Living Israel’s rehabilitation center, and there he learned about God’s love and restored his relationship with God. After he finished his time in the rehabilitation center he was eager to share…

A New Home for Natasha

Natasha's family, served by School Without Walls students in Moldova

“When we first met Natasha’s family, their home was in a terrible state,” shares Denis, one of our School Without Walls (SWW) coordinators in Moldova. “Their two-room house was too small to comfortably accommodate Natasha and her six children, very dirty, and insufficiently heated. Natasha and her partner often drank and left the children alone without supervision.” Denis and his team of young Next Generation Christian leaders started providing the family with food, clothing, firewood, and other aid as soon as they heard about their situation; however when authorities learned about the family’s situation they came and took the children away, explaining that Natasha’s parental rights would only be returned if she could provide adequate living conditions. Natasha was unable to find better accommodations with her limited resources, and started to lose hope of getting her children back. Saddened to see the family torn apart, the SWW students decided…

Alesya’s Testimony: Ministry to Children with Disabilities

Alesya, School Without Walls leader in Belarus

“I love serving those in need, especially children and orphans with mental disabilities,” shares Alesya, a School Without Walls (SWW) student from Pinsk, Belarus. Alesya coordinates the team of 5-8 dedicated volunteers from Church Without Walls that visits a local boarding school for children with special needs twice a month and organizes a summer Bible camp, Gift of Hope program, and other special projects at the school. “We spend as much as time as possible with the children so we can form strong relationships with them and support them beyond our regular visits.” Alesya says that SWW played an important role in helping her discover her calling and in equipping her to fulfill it. “After assuming this leadership role, I felt the need to grow as a leader. It’s one thing to be a volunteer, but it’s another thing to think about ministry in a more holistic sense when you’re caring for…

Alex’s Testimony: A Miraculous Transformation

Alex, School Without Walls leader from Russia

Alex is one of our School Without Walls students and Bible camp leaders from Russia. His testimony is one of miraculous transformation that began when God saved his life after repeated suicide attempts. Today, Alex is a thriving leader who is serving the church, ministering to hurting people, and reaching his community for Christ. Alex’s testimony:  “You could say that I came to know God through many challenges. When I was younger, my heart was filled with emptiness, loneliness, pain, and resentment toward many people who had betrayed me. In order to stifle the pain, I started doing martial arts. But that wasn’t enough to heal me, so I tried committing suicide twice. The first time I tried to kill myself, my mother was able to stop me in time. I think this first attempt was a cry for attention, because I wanted people to know the inner pain I was…

Ambassadors for Christ

Veronica, School Without Walls graduate from Belarus

Mission Eurasia’s School Without Walls (SWW) program is a flexible leadership and ministry training program that trains and equips young Christian leaders in Eurasia and Israel to transform their communities from within. Some of our SWW graduates go on to traditional ministry roles after graduation, like church planting, pastoring, and full-time evangelism—all God-honoring vocations that are crucial to the body of Christ. But many of our graduates emerge from School Without Walls with the vision that their personal mission field is their own schools, neighborhoods, and workplaces. They put the tools that they’ve received from the SWW program to use as they share the gospel within their unique circles of influence and live their everyday lives as a testament to the transforming power of the gospel. Veronica, one of our 2013 SWW graduates from Belarus, recently shared with us how her SWW training gave her a new perspective on how…
